- Who is the old lady?
- What is she doing?
- What is the shadow? Why isn’t it the same silhouette as her?
- How does she feel as she’s looking at this shadow? What might she be remembering?
- Why is it in a book?
- Why did Jungho Le call this picture ‘Fall’?
- Write the story of this woman’s life. Include flashbacks.
- What world events has she lived through?
- What changes has she seen?
- What was her childhood like?
- Is she alone now? Has she always been alone? Was she ever married? Did she have children?
- What are her favourite memories?
- What’s her personality like? How will you show this through the writing?
- How might you structure your story?

Posted at 19:07h, 19 FebruaryI’d love to read the books the illustrations come from. Is that written some where that I can’t see… or don’t they come from books…

Posted at 19:10h, 19 FebruaryMost of them are art featured on the artist’s website. I normally credit the book if an illustration is from one. I know what you mean though – some of them feel like they need a story! Sam 😊

Posted at 20:14h, 19 FebruaryHi Sam,
I teach 3/4 grade in Australia. I’m trying to get a screen permanently attached in my classroom . Then I could put up these wonderful illustrations and maybe the kids and I could write our own stories. Keep up the good work. It’s nice to have artwork and not just animal pics available. Wendy
